BTHS SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA
Mar 6, 2023
The spring musical is coming up, and many of our members have signed up to play in the pit orchestra for the musical. How will their absence affect our rehearsal schedule when our concert is in April?
Due to the start of the spring musical, we had to change the meeting days of our club. Musical rehearsals took place on Wednesdays, which happens to be the days where our club meets, so we decided to change our meeting days to Tuesdays. That allowed for the members in the pit orchestra to make it to the club's meeting and prevent schedule conflicts. However, that only lasted until March.
Since March, musical rehearsals took place every single day. That conflicted with our club schedule and meetings. Since the musical takes priority, we decided to hold off our weekly rehearsals until the musical is over. We want all our pit members to focus on rehearsing for the upcoming musical, and with only a few members attending the meetings, there was no point in practicing without the majority. When the musical was over, we were able to get back to our normal schedule, with a few major changes. (Congratulations to everyone who performed in the musical; you guys did great!)
During the musical months, the club wasn't able to meet, so we missed a lot of rehearsals. We decided to make meetings two times a week in the month of April to catch up with our missed rehearsals. As the concert neared, we had a few more rehearsals on the weekends, and we had a final dress-rehearsal on the Monday of the concert week. Thank you to everyone who adjusted their schedules to come practice for the concert!
